Jennifer is one of the most knowledgeable, helpful breeders out there. She will not sell you a puppy that is not "right" for you.
My puppy Spec is the most well balanced, even-tempered, intelligent, loving dog on the planet. He will do anything to make you happy. I've been working with one of the top movie dog trainers in Hollywood and even he is astounded! Just for fun, I recently took him out to a nearby ranch to be instinct tested on sheep, and he blew everybody away. Two of the top national herding judges want to work with him. On the personal side, everyone who comes to visit just falls in love with him. He is so polite and well mannered and really very mature for his age. I could go on forever!
My little guy arrived healthy and happy. He licked my face and wagged his tail as if he knew had found his rightful place. It was love at first sight. He and my three year old son bonded immediately.
But most of the credit goes to Jennifer. She begins working with the pups at a very young age - and there is no doubt that she's got the magic touch. She has taught me so much about this breed and has always been available to answer questions. As if you couldn't tell by now -- I am one happy customer!

Sugar & Spice & Everything Nice is my name, I flew on an airplane from Texas way over to Washington State. Now this is much different than Texas, we get snow (wow what fun to play in, but it is cold stuff) and lots and lots of rain (good for mud puddles, but mom don't like muddy floors, I think their pretty). I got off the plane and met my new mom and wasn't even scared or anything. She put a pretty pink collar on me and guess what my leash matched too. Then we drove home must of took a day or two at least to me anyway, she told me it was only an hour and half drive, guess us puppies think rides when we are little are long drives whew. When I got to my new home I had new brothers and a sister wonder where they came from I didn't see them on the plane. They were small and red boys and one black and tan sister she likes to play with me the most and guess what I was smaller than her. But I grew up and now she can walk under me imagine that. I get along with all of them and we sleep together and play, I love my new home lots and lots. I went to kindergarten and herded the whole class but the teacher said that they must show things on there own, I thought ok but I knew I was the smartest one in class and the teacher favorite (ha ha) but my blue merle coat catches all the eyes of everyone who sees me and think I as beautiful as ever. I am very smart and loveable and not all hyper that is what my mom says but I am not sure what that means guess maybe I am a good girl most of time and calm when she wants me to be. I am thankful I have a loving family, my first mom took good care of me, made sure all us puppies are trained to go potty outside. My doggie mom and dad had good background to produce a princess like me. When I went to an evaluation today I got rave reviews for catching on fast, good motor skills, play drive and more. Double HH Border collies are truly the BEST you can invest in. (My mom knows because she just loves me to pieces). See ya but I will let you know later how I am doing.
Love,
Sugar and My Mom

Jennifer:
We've been meaning to get in touch to let you know how happy we are with Kiko. He has been a real joy. He's smart, funny and not quite as busy as we anticipated. He loves to terrorize our little dog "Tasha" and looks up as though he says "what?, I'm not doing anything!" He went to obedience school earlier this summer and graduated. He knows how to fetch, shake, sit, stay, come, down, off, leave it, and most recently, roll over. Jake is working on "speaking". We have been trying to find an agility class to get him into. Kiko's is very happy and so are we.
Thanks,
John & Janey

We have a two year old border collie named Jessie from Double H that we are very pleased with. She is a delightful dog with an excellent temperament. Very friendly, loves people. The main reason we purchased from Jen Hoover is the temperament of her dogs. We were in Texas on family business and we stopped by and were able to see all her dogs. My wife and I were impressed with their behavior and even temperaments. Jen does a lot of work to socialize them.
Jessie is basically a family dog, although I have done a little herding at a local farm and some agility with her. She has good aptitude for both, but my time constraints and recent leg injury have limited us somewhat.
For the past three months I have been pretty inactive, recovering from the leg surgery, and being homebound has not created a problem with Jessie.

Hi Jennifer,
Jud and Sunny brought Maggie May (her name) to see me Sun. She is so pretty, loving and well adjusted. She and Cadie are doing really good together. She went to the vet yesterday for puppy checkup and he said she was a very healthy little girl. You did a great job. Thanks again for our new member of the family. We will send pictures.

Hello,
Dallas is doing much better today, he's full of energy and having a ball with the kids. My son and my daughter just love him, and they get along so good. Dallas doesn't like to leave their side. He's such a sweet little guy and we just absolutely love him. He has already found two escape routes under our chainlnk fence, and has learned the game of fetch. He also loves to play tug of war. He has also developed an affection for my daughter's Pacifier. Its so cute I'll have to take some pics of them playing together. I think we are going to go ahead and register him, he's already showing an interest in agility he flies over obstacles in the backyard. He also loves to sleep on his back with all fours in the air, we are enjoying him so much. We thank you so much for bringing him into our lives.
Talk to you soon. Judy.

Jennifer,
Just wanted to share the WONDERFUL news and send some links to the win pictures today :) I'm so proud of them both, but Flynn being barely a year old taking first place in Novice A -- well talk about over the top!!!
I had people CONSTANTLY asking me where I got him from, etc because of his beautiful color and how he is turning out. You have a lot of publicity <wink> :)
Anyway, drop us a line when you can -- we're SO proud of this guy -- looks like one more show and he'll have his CD! I am so anxious to get him into agility but I am going to wait until he is 2 years old for the jumps because I want his joints and bones to finish growing before getting heavily into agility.
I hope you will be breeding BC's for the next 80 years -- I've definitely found my line and breed!
Take care!
Shari & Flynn

Happy New Year Jennifer to you and your family!
Just wanted to drop you a line to update you about the puppy we purchased from you in September. My wife, Sheila and I could not be more happy with Saber, the male puppy we purchased from you. He is in extremely great health and growing like a tree and runs like the wind. He is extremely well behaved and smart as a whip. I am going to refer our Agriculture Teacher to you for a puppy, he thought Saber was a great dog and he uses them to run sheep and cattle. Again, thanks for Saber.

Jennifer,
Here is a picture of Saber James (36 healthy pounds and still growing), he is a great dog, he is well trained and extremely well behaved. We are hoping to start agility training soon, he is in his third month of obedience training with Man's Best Friend, my wife, and I. You had indicated you had instructions and measurements on how to set up the dog run (obstacle course). I am looking for instructions/measurements regarding the pole spacing. etc. Thank you for Saber and I always tell everyone where we were fortunate enough to get him from. Here is the picture.

Hi, Jennifer.
Last Saturday was Belle's six month birthday, and I though I'd give you an update. She's doing great. We had her spayed two weeks ago, and she got through that like a champ.
Randy is working with her on her obedience training, and she's doing great. Belle has been such a wonderful addition to our family. She's very outgoing and friendly.
Attached is a picture of Belle when she was five months old. I will send more later.
Thanks, Jennifer, for a wonderful friend whom we all love very much!

I wanted a "family" dog , as I do not have sheep or cattle for the dog to work. I ride horses on long distance trail rides, and I wanted the energy and stamina of the border. My last dog had also been a border, and I loved her death. Anyway, I knew I wanted another one, so I picked out Jennifer on the Internet and arranged to have a female puppy shipped to me. I waited until she was 10 weeks so the trip would be more tolerable. As it turns out, it went very smoothly. I, too, was worried, as I had never bought a puppy like that before, but Jennifer was great to deal with and the airlines was great too. . She is 2 years old now and is absolutely beautiful. Long red hair just like her daddy. I get compliments on her all the time. She is not hyper or nutty at all, but I will admit that she cannot stop herself from "herding" my horses around. It is so natural to her that I am sure I will never get her to stop it, but that is ok, as the horses seem to tolerate her. My other border was a "pet quality" border, and she did not seem interested in herding them around at all. Sienna is a breeder quality dog, and the herding instinct is so strong that she naturally wants to do that. She is relaxed at home though, and causes me no problems. To keep her from being bored, we play ball and other games every day almost. But when I am busy, she will lay down and be quiet when told. She is so smart, that it only took me a week to train her to come, stay, lay down, and sit. She was 3 months old at the time, and I haven't had any problems with her obeying or having inappropriate behavior. I take her everywhere with me and she gets along great. I have also left her at home all day while I am working and busy, and she has not made a mess or been bad. If anything happened to her . . .God forbid . . . I would definitely buy another puppy from Jennifer. Her dogs are healthy and very smart and have great personalities.

Jennifer,
Here are some pictures of Fergus our 7mo old Border Collie. He's one of Jen and Rolo's March 3rd pups. As you can see, he's well on his way to being a Frisbee champ here in Dallas. He's been a really great dog and I can't say enough good things about him.
Thanks again!
Joe
Jennifer,
Fergus took 3rd place Amateur at the Flying Disk Dog Open. He would have taken 1st but, I didn't fully understand the rules..... Oh well! I'm sure we'll clean up at the next one! hehe
For the distance portion, you get 3 throws and the pros are only allowed to keep the points for the last throw. They can throw 1, 2 or, 3 throws but, can only keep the score of their last throw. The amateurs, on the other hand, always throw 3 throws. I assumed that only the best of the 3 throws were kept so, Fergus and I were attempting very long catches ... 40-50 yard attempts. All in all we didn't do too badly... We had 2 rounds of distance and he caught 3 out of 6.... We would have done much better if I'd known that they added the scores for each successful catch.
There was also an obstacle course. Fergus did better here than most of the pros! You had to do things like: throw the frisbee through a hoop and have the dog catch it inside a chalked out square or, skip the frisbee off a board and have the dog catch it inside a chalked out zone.
All in all, Fergus did great. We'll be working on his freeflight routine in the coming months. I'm sure they'll kick us out of the amateur division really soon so, We need to be getting ready! heheh
Talk to you later,
Joe

Jennifer, From being through a 4+ hour plane ride, a hour and a half ride back one with one stop at the drive up drug store then home you would think of a scared little border collie. Not such the case she adapted immediately to the house and yard. I put some paper down so I can gradually get her out the doggie door and she went right on the paper and no where else. I take her in the yard with collar and leash for now so I can watch her for how she reacts with the boys (two min pins), that goes real well, I just call her and she stays with me but still not sure what this leash thing is. I let her drag it behind her and she is fine with that. She is not sure how to play with the boys and they aren't sure either. She has a louder play growl so both have to adapt. She lays at my feet when she wants to rest and follows me everywhere, I love it.
Right now if someone came over to meet her they would think she lived her for at least a week or two. She does try to say this is my mom first somewhat when Sparky comes over but he wags his tell and says hey lets play then all is good again.
With time and everyone realizing that this going to be this way a long time they should become real good pals.
Now I need to get even just general training started without her even realizing it is being done. Just little things, sit or come which works good now.
ps. she did not whine once in the crate coming home just layed down and slept and took it all in stride. Good job raising these puppies.
